Advanced Graphics Port (AGP), a point-to-point connection between the video card and the processor, was designed for Pentium II based motherboards. AGP delivers a peak bandwidth that is 4 times higher than the PCI bus using pipelining, sideband addressing, and more data transfers per clock. It also enables graphics cards to execute texture maps directly from system memory instead of forcing it to pre-load the texture data to the graphics card's local memory. AGP is based on the 64 bit PCI 2.1 standard which calls for a 66MHz PCI bus speed.

AT

The term Advanced Technology (AT) was coined 1984 by IBM when it introduced the IBM PC/AT. The power supply in these units was larger and changed slightly in shape, establishing it as a distinct form factor. Various manufacturers began creating AT-compatible systems and with them, AT form factor power supplies used in AT form factor cases and with AT or Baby AT form factor motherboards. The AT form factor has the same motherboard and drive connectors as the PC/XT form factor.

The Advanced Technology Attachment (ATA) bus, sometimes called the Integrated Drive Electronics (IDE) bus, is used to connect hard disk drives and CD ROMs to SBCs and motherboards. SATA refers to Serial ATA and PATA refers to Parallel ATA. The specification has been upgraded a number of times.

ATX improves on the previous standard, the Baby AT form factor, in terms of ease of use, support for current and future I/O, support for current and future processor technology, and reduced total system cost. It covers the form factor of motherboards, power supplies and riser cards, as well as the function and outputs of compliant power supplies.
